Markie's Closet

Last year when moving into our new home, I noticed how many dresses I had! Dresses from countless homecomings and proms, not to mention events. What the heck am I to do with all of these dresses that I've worn once but won't wear wear them again (not to mention I can't even FIT into most of them anymore). I couldn't just give them away. I worked so hard to save up money to buy my junior prom dress and I know how much my mom sacrificed to pay for my senior dress. Most of the time I just purchased my gowns on clearance after the prom season for the next year! The point is, they meant a lot to me, and I couldn't imagine just throwing them out. I know how much other girls struggle to afford the costly expenses of prom...and that's when an idea hatched. I started asking my friends for dress donations as well as their shoes, purses and jewelry they no longer wear. I was able to make a small donation to a local charity to help girls attend their 2010 prom.

This year I am on a mission to really make an impact. To collect more dresses and to reach out to more girls. I've started a facebook page.... http://www.facebook.com/pages/Markies-Closet/229353433743285 and I've reached out to local media to help spread the word. This is something so dear to my heart and something so small but means so much to young women. I am really hoping that other women will reach into their hearts and closets to donate to such a great cause. Every girl deserves to have that magical moment that they will cherish always.

Fresh Starts and New Blog

Hello MakeupLanders...

I've deleted my old blog and I'm starting over fresh!

As you may or may not know, I work for an amazing cosmetic line called Too Faced Cosmetics. It's the most amazing company and I couldn't be happier! I also freelance. I've been involved in some amazing print work as well as doing makeup for bridal parties. The next step for me is to start a blog. So here we are!

I hope to share ideas and work I've done with anyone that's willing to listen!

Stay tuned for photos!
